China’s Entry Requirements to Tighten

There is news today of tightening restrictions for travellers entering China.

It would appear that, from 7th November, China will begin requiring all incoming passengers to present a negative COVID IgM antibody test, in addition to their negative nucleic acid test result, before boarding a direct flight to China. The test results will need to have been obtained within 48 hours before departure and a green QR health code will also need to be presented.  Although, at the time of writing, the Chinese ministry has not yet made this a formality, several Chinese embassies (including those in the UK) have announced that this rule will apply to travellers leaving their countries.

With the Christmas break fast-approaching, we would advise any Chinese students, hoping to return home at the end of term, to check with the Chinese embassy well in advance for any additional requirements needed for making their journey.

If you would like further information, please refer to this webpage on the Chinese Embassy’s website.
